Facts about Kenya

  1. Kenya is often referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind.” Some of the earliest human remains, dating back millions of years, have been found in Kenya’s Rift Valley. 
  2. Every year, Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve witnesses the Great Wildebeest Migration. This is the largest mammal migration on earth and is an 800 kilometer trek involving around two million animals.
  3. Kenya hosts numerous festivals celebrating its diverse culture, including the Lamu Cultural Festival, the Lake Turkana Festival, and the Mombasa Carnival, which feature traditional music, dance, and art.
  4. Kenya has a rich tradition of producing middle and long-distance track athletes with Faith Kipyegon, Eliud Kipchoge, and David Rudisha winning multiple Olympic gold medals.
  5. Kenya has won 124 Olympic medals to date. More than any other African country. They have all been in Track and Field events or Boxing.
